  • Women's Studies is a unit within Appalachian’s University College. University College consists of the university’s integrated general education curriculum, academic support services, residential learning communities, interdisciplinary degree programs and co-curricular programming – all designed to support the work of students both inside and outside of the classroom.

An academic program generating, supporting, and sharing research on women and gender.

The Women's Studies Program at Appalachian State University was founded in 1976 - making it the second oldest program in North Carolina. A member of the National Women's Studies Association, our Women's Studies Program provides academic leadership to the community for the study of women, women's and gender issues, and gender/feminist/womanist theories.
