University College consists of the university’s integrated general education curriculum, academic support services, residential learning communities, interdisciplinary degree programs and co-curricular programming – all designed to support the work of students both inside and outside of the classroom.

The Women's Studies Program at Appalachian State University was founded in 1976 -- making it the second oldest program in North Carolina. A member of the National Women's Studies Association, our Women's Studies Program provides academic leadership to the community for the study of women, women's and gender issues, and gender/feminist/womanist theories.
